Today is the second Sunday of May which makes it Mother’s Day in Australia. (Always remember this.) So Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful/wonderful mums out there. Especially my mum, the precious soul that gave birth to me. Without her (and my dad, may I add), I wouldn’t be here writing this post. Aren’t we lucky? Happy Mother’s Day also to my partner’s mum. My other mum. Without her (and his dad), he wouldn’t be here either (and I wouldn’t be the lucky/happy soul that I am to have him in my life) and our reality would not be possible. Thanks very much for your unconditional/endless love and support. We feel so blessed to have you as parents and are forever grateful. Happy Mother’s Day also to my amazing sister and sisters in law. As well as to my eldest niece. Thanks very much for your extended love/compassion and support. May you have a blissful day and may god bless you and your family.
I know that modern families are an assorted lot. Including ours as two men and our furry/canine child. (For the meantime.) However, mums are an incomparable/awesome bunch. They’re the creators/child bearers. And nurturers too. The truth is, as far as I know, without mums, none of us would be here. Am I right? Until further knowledge. So a toast/cheers to them. While babies come from mums/women, modern families do exist in many forms. From traditional mum and dad, two mums or two dads, one mum or one dad, or other. Anything is possible. And with much love, commitment, faith, hard work and support, a loving parent can take the role of either father or mother, or both. Men too can be loving nurturers. And women too can be strong protectors/providers. And in some cases, better than the traditional. The world is your oyster. Make it work. Make it happen.
So whether you’re a traditional mum or non-traditional mum. A motherly father or fatherly mother. A single parent or same sex parents. A sister, aunt, cousin or best friend. A cool/crazy plant/cat/dog/[insert your preferred responsibility here] person. Or simply a caring/loving soul. If you’re a mother figure or have a motherly spirit, I wish you a very happy Mother’s Day today also. You’re a beacon of light, a rock/a gem, a gift from god, an inspiration, a muse, a living true life angel. Thank you. Keep up your amazing/awesome work. The world needs you. We need you. And we love you. Thank you for being you. You’re priceless.
Alas, we didn’t get a chance to see our mums for this Mother’s Day. But that’s ok. We called our mums and wished them a Happy Mother’s Day over the phone instead. And it was great to hear happiness in their voice. We wanted to post a Mother’s Day card to our mums last week. And we planned to go for a drive this weekend to celebrate the occasion. (One of our favourite pastimes.) But we had such a busy last week that we’ll probably do both tomorrow instead. Hope you’re having a fab day today. And don’t forget to call your mum. It’s not too late and it only takes a minute. She’ll be ecstatic to hear your voice. She loves you more than you know. Have a blessed week ahead. Much love. smile heart
