Our beloved dog, Swan passed away two months ago. She was 13 and a half years old. I think she passed away too soon but she lived as much as she could and for a large dog and her breed, she reached quite an admirable age. Swan had a youthful spirit and would often put on a happy/sprightly face/disposition at times to please us, but the truth is that she was an old dog. In her final months, we noticed that she was unwell more often. She was less active, slept more and her fits were more regular which was what took her in the end.
Swan was like a daughter to us. She was our fur/canine child. She was with us since she was a puppy and she was with us nearly all of the time. She was very much an integral part of our life/family. It’s still difficult to accept that she’s passed away. I cherish all of the many happy/wonderful moments and memories we shared with her. And while I’m still upset that she’s passed and wish that she’s still with us, I know that she wouldn’t want us to be sad/upset or have regrets but rather, for us to only have good/happy memories of her and for us to move on forward with our life, even if only for her.
Swan taught me/us many things when she was alive and even now after she’s passed. One thing is that life is short and the other is that love is the most important thing. So, a message from her is to give love immensely/intensely and unconditionally as much/often as you can. (To the point where you’re not able to love anymore and then dig deep to give even more love.) Love the one you’re with and be grateful for all the many beautiful blessings in your life. Express love to your partner, your family and friends, and your wider circle and the world. And expect nothing in return. I’m not talking about regular/everyday/just enough love. I’m talking about unbelievable/selfless love. (Easier said than done, I know.) Because life is short and fragile/precarious and it can slip away so easily, just like that and at any minute. And when our loved ones are gone, it’s just not the same.
Nothing in life is permanent. And nothing in life is perfect and yet everything is. No one ticks all the boxes. And we all have bad hair days. Make the extra effort and go the extra mile to give unconditional love to the one you’re with and the people that you care for. God is watching us. Let’s make him happy and proud. Stick/stay together and work hard together to achieve your dreams/goals while you’re still young/healthy and can. Don’t waste time. Live in the moment and do what you want to do now. Life is a precious gift and short. Just give love.

Firstly, I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Swan Ngeun. She would have had the best life and you gave her that. This is such a reminder for me. I needed to read this.

Thank you Jem for your lovely comment. We certainly tried our best to provide the best for Swan. It’s amazing how close our bond can be with our pets. If only they lived for longer. :)
