It’s been a while since my last post and a lot has happened. All is well over here. We’ve been busy with work and stuff. We got a new puppy – a mini fox terrier whom we’ve named Dove. (I wanted to continue with the bird theme and it rhymes with Love.) For the most part, he’s cute and a blessing. But he can also be a challenge and test our patience – especially when we’re trying to work or sleep. No need for morning alarms these days. And that’s just part of the package of owning a new puppy. Life has certainly been different and interesting with him here. He’s full of beans and needs a lot of attention and training still. Overall, he’s happy, funny and a gentle and loving soul. (Although, definitely naughty!) Strangely enough, he loves to eat fruits. Bananas, grapes, berries and stone fruits are his favourites. (In fact, he’ll eat most things!) He loves to run and he loves the beach. Although, he’s still a little scared of the water. And his favourite toy is a woolly/rattly pink stuffed toy lamb named Lambchops. She’s seen better days. Dove is mostly white in colour with black and brown markings. I look forward to sharing more pics of him. And possibly a painting or two.
It was also my birthday in early April – another year in my 40s. Yes, time flies quick and mid life is certainly here. And it’s definitely time to pull my finger out and paint more. We spent it away relaxing on the south coast for a few days. It was beautiful and wonderful. I took a plethora of photos and was inspired with new artwork ideas and visions.
I’ve recently been inspired to draw and paint more freestyle and freehand. The idea is not new to me but being one who also likes accuracy and detail in my paintings (especially portraits), the idea of working more freely and loosely is liberating and exciting – at the same time, worrying. Today’s technology does a great job at creating amazing digital art with precision and effects (or attempt to replicateΒ andΒ create a new masterpiece). So it seems worthwhile to paint in a more free and expressive manner (using my hands, intuition and emotions as my guides) without worrying too much about correctness. If that makes sense. I’ve been studying the works of Robert Dickerson, Eric Wilson, and Marc Chagal online. Again, I can’t just fall blindly deep under their influence. But rather, learn from their techniques and styles to create and develop my own. We will see what evolves. Looking forward to sharing some new freestyle and freehand artworks with you soon. Much Love.

How exciting about the freestyle art Ngeuns, it will be very liberating for you!! Just enjoy it and don’t let Monkey Mind set in and they will be divine! Talking of divine… Argh, young Dove. Swan would certainly have a few words to say about him and his conduct! Naughty but very lovable, what more could you want!
Love you Ngeun and so great to see you back!!!
Always,
Cynthia and Pet

Thank you Cynthia and Pet. Yes, working freely, with feeling and the flow should be fun. Dear little Dove – what will become of him? Surely he can’t remain cute and naughty foreverβ½

Itβs so nice to see youβre back online! Dove is a love little puppy, and he will keep you young!
Iβm glad to know that you both are doing well, and that you were finding new inspiration for your painting and drawing. I long to get back to it myself β but I think I need to do that in retirement. Work just takes too much out of my dayβ¦
Thank you for the link to The Next Rembrandt β I look forward to watching it.
Sending you happiness and light, David

Hi David! Thanks for your lovely comment. Dove can be a real handful at times but we love him. Yes, painting can take a lot of time and there’s so many hours in a day. I’m trying hard to work faster. Both the article and website on The Next Rembrandt are interesting reads. Best wishes to you both too! :)
